We are an award winning, accredited, community based multidisciplinary rehabilitation practice that provides expert assessment and treatment services throughout Ontario to persons with traumatic and acquired neurological injuries, and severe orthopedic injuries.
We are seeking full time rehabilitation assistants in the Greater Toronto area to integrate into our clinical team to work with our Occupational Therapists in support of our community based programs. Our rehab assistants (RA’s) perform 1:1 therapy sessions in client’s home, work, gym, pool, or school settings and are fully supported by Registered Occupational Therapists.
The successful candidates will possess the following traits:
- Must have a Kinesiology degree, Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant certificate from a recognized Community College, or other equivalent training, education and clinical experience relevant to rehabilitation services
- Knowledge of the rehabilitation approach to patient care and the roles of OT and PT
- Demonstrated ability to interface with clients and have comprehensive knowledge of functional issues when clients face physical, emotional, and/or cognitive deficits, and monitor and report changes in health status to the supervising OT
- Motivated self starter with superior technical, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical ability
- Experience with rehabilitation services (hospital, clinic, community), pool therapy and/or personal training certification are all assets
- Computer skills (i.e. ability to work in MS Word and Outlook)
- Great interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with different personality types
- Minimum of two years of related work experience
- Work well both independently (with remote OT supervision) and as part of a team
- Since all therapy is provided in the community setting, you need to have access to an automobile
When part of our team, the successful candidate will undertake the following:
- Implementing light fitness programs in a gym, home, community or pool environment
- Implementing OT programming including cognitive rehabilitation programming, and supporting clients towards independent living skills in their homes
- Support adaptive school function and community integration goals
