Qualifications for Success
- University degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Occupational Therapists (COTO).
- Canadian Certified Life Care Planner (CCLCP) or Certified Life Care Planner (CLCP) designation.

- Experience with CAT assessments and/or C-CAT certification is an asset.

- Treatment Plan Development: Create individualized treatment plans using occupational analysis and clinical expertise.
- Community Collaboration: Work with WSIB, community mental health partners, and other rehab professionals (e.g., Psychologists and Psychotherapists) to support client independence.

Qualifications for Success
- Degree: Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work, or Clinical Counselling.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical experience
- 2 years of experience supporting clients in return-to-work contexts
- Professional Standing: Membership in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC)
- Team Collaboration: You enjoy working with a multidisciplinary team.
- Transportation: Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with different personalities.
- Judgment and Critical Thinking: Good judgment and critical thinking in client decision-making.
- Professional Development: Demonstrated commitment to post-graduate professional development.
What Is a Typical Day for an FA Clinical Counsellor?
- Conduct assessments, counseling, and psychotherapy using evidence-based therapeutic modalities (ex. CBT, DBT, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction)
- Provide support to individuals, couples, and families experiencing trauma, grief, and challenging life transitions
- Collaborate with medical, legal, and insurance systems to advocate for client needs and connect them with community resources
- Monitor, evaluate, and document client progress in alignment with treatment and care plans
- Produce detailed, comprehensive reports for the medical-legal system
- Attend educational and training sessions to expand professional knowledge
